This was a fun project with a collection of sounds I hear while doing homework at my desk, enjoying creative outlets and living daily life in my apartment. The only other common thingI hear every day in this spot that I did not get the chance to capture on recording is the trippy car alarm outside the building that goes off multiple times every night at 4 am, but no one should have to hear that. This project includes many repeating sounds to emphasize the frequency that I hear them. I created some harsher sounds for some of them to convey the sometimes unwelcome noises but for the most part I appreciate the sounds in this space. They are different every day, which I appreciated about John Cages processes and thoughts is the unique and ever changing landscape of sound availalvle to us everyday. Some sounds we won't favor but some we do, some blend into the background and you don't notice them until you are asked to use it in a project. This project had me holding my phone (recording device) and going about through my daily life capturing sounds I would never have noticed normally.
